Introduce your students to coastal career options on a GenSea field trip.

  • GenSea field trips are free!

  • They are most suited to engineering, related CTE (aquaculture, instrumentation, etc.), and upper-level science classes.

  • GenSea provides lunch for attendees and transportation stipends upon request.

  • The maximum number of students on a trip is 30, with two chaperones required.

  • Teachers may sign up for one trip per semester.

  • Hancock County

    Did you know that Stennis Space Center* is 88% blue economy jobs? Our field trips get students through security and into the following facilities: USM’s Division of Marine Science, Navy Oceanographic Command (NAVOCEANO), NOAA/National Weather Service National Data Buoy Center, MSU Science & Technology Center, Aerojet Rocketdyne.
    *Stennis requires all attendees be U.S. citizens or possess green cards and show a photo ID for entry.

  • Harrison County

    Did you know that in addition to being a logistics hub, Mississippi’s coast is emerging as a center of development for underwater robotics? Classes tour the following public and private companies, labs, and facilities in Gulfport and Long Beach: USM’s Gulf Park campus, USM’s Marine Research Center, the Mississippi AVCRAD (Aviation Classification Repair Activity Depot), the Port of Gulfport, and Ocean Aero.

  • Jackson County

    While Pascagoula may be famous for shipbuilding, the whole county offers opportunities to learn about a variety of blue economy careers. Field trips visit the following sites: USM Ecotoxicology Research Lab, Gulf Islands National Seashore Davis Bayou, NOAA Fisheries Research Center, Pascagoula River Audubon Center, Grand Bay National Estaurine Research Reserve (NERR), Mississippi Shipbuilding and Maritime Center, Moss Point CTE Aquaculture Program, and Ingalls Shipbuilding.
